Electrical Testing

The course outline of "Electrical Test" systematically introduces the purposes, principles and methods of insulation and characteristic tests for various high-voltage electrical equipment in the power system (such as transformers, circuit breakers, power cables, lightning arresters, etc.), with a focus on key insulation tests such as insulation resistance, dielectric loss, DC/AC withstand voltage, and partial discharge.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the programme, participants can:

Enable students to systematically master the basic principles, physical significance and industry standards of various preventive tests for high-voltage electrical equipment (such as insulation resistance, dielectric loss, AC/DC withstand voltage, partial discharge, etc.); Be familiar with the wiring of various tests, the use of instruments and strict safety operation procedures.Cultivate students' ability to independently and standardly complete the entire practical operation process from preparatory work, on-site wiring, equipment operation to data recording according to the test tasks, ensuring the acquisition of accurate and effective original test data.Train students to be able to conduct comprehensive analysis, comparison and judgment of test results based on national standards and historical data of equipment, accurately assess the insulation condition or performance characteristics of equipment, preliminarily diagnose latent defects of equipment, and write test reports in a standardized manner.
